Giving as many materials as possible a second life is not only a question of their intrinsic value, but also of the nature and ways and means of preparing them for re-use. Sometimes waste stream or by-products streams individually cannot be valorized. However combining them with others or investing in an intermediate step can be helpful.

The pre-conditioning technologies installed at the CRM pilot trial site allow to provide different solutions to recycle by-products and lower grade raw materials in primary material production. This avoids that these products are eliminated as waste. The key to success is to select the optimal recipe to recover as many different compounds as possible under the best possible economic conditions.
