Atmospheric/cosmetic corrosion

Atmospheric corrosion tests can be carried-out at CRM Group in various conditions and settings to simulate many environments and types of weather. Such tests are frequently carried-out for steel producers, for coating developers/suppliers and for product designers.

Cosmetic corrosion is one of the most relevant corrosion modes in atmospheric corrosion of coated metal products (automotive, appliances, construction, outdoor products, etc).

Humidity cabinets allow testing corrosion of materials under saturated or adjusted atmospheres (relative humidity)

Salt spray test chambers

The salt spray (or salt fog) test is a standardized and popular corrosion testing method, used to check corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings. It is an accelerated corrosion test that evaluates (mostly comparatively) the suitability of the coating for use as a protective finish. The appearance of corrosion products (rust or other oxides) is evaluated after a pre-determined period of time.

Result analysis is performed according to : ISO4628-2, ISO4628-4, ISO4628-8
