Mechanical tests of larger structures

In order to determine the response of large and complex structures (composite beams, sandwich panels, floor elements, road safety barriers, etc) to a given set of constraints, two approaches are used at CRM Group:

  • Elementary measurements of the mechanical characteristics of specific parts of the structure, especially at assembly points (spot welds, bolts, screws, adhesive bonds, etc), to feed a numerical model of the complete structure
  • Direct measurement of the full-size structure on a large-scale bending bench
