DissHEAT
Advancing Fossil-Free Heating Technology Dissemination.
Objectives
The main objective of the RFCS dissemination project DissHEAT is to review the most important European RFCS and Horizon projects as well as international literature related to “heating technology research results for emission minimization and process optimization towards todays fossil-free heating agenda” in the field of downstream, and to define a roadmap for future research in reheating.
The deliverables are : Report on current practices, presentations for dissemination, seminars and webinars, report on marked needs, and a roadmap for future research.

Description
This proposal has been set up to elevate and promote the knowledge in a research field of paramount importance for the European steel industry related to The European Green Deal, the Paris agreement and the large amount of fuel and energy carriers used to reheat steel. Even if the steelmaking side have had the most attention, downstream processes are very large energy consumers. Almost half the industrial energy used in Europe is used in thermal processing plants, especially industrial furnaces, which corresponded to an energy consumption of 1650 TWh/yr. The industrial furnaces on the metal working side are responsible for about 6-8% of the total consumption of industrial furnaces amounting to 99- 132TWh/yr. This project will bring forward and promote a large amount of EU/RFCS/ECSC projects innovations and knowledge that has reached a smaller audience than it deserves and scale-up the important outcomes of those projects to reach various stakeholders from industry, suppliers, policymakers and research.
In short, the project has the opportunity to perform:
- a) A critical review of past projects by the re-organisation of project results into selected groupings and valorising the findings.
- b) To share, promote and discuss the knowledge. The findings will be presented in a clear way to new audiences. Expected feedback by discussions in planned workshops and seminars will provide important insights on reasons for success and failure of the past projects and indications of how to proceed
- c) Develop a Roadmap for future research activities
