Improving the efficiency & productivity of the metal production processes in particular rolling, cooling & thermal treatments with a focus on climate neutrality and the decarbonization of the steel industry is one of the a key activities of our research center in Gent-Zwijnaarde.
In this context we are looking to strengthen our team in Gent-Zwijnaarde with a Project Engineer (M/W/X).
What will your responsibilities be?
- You will be responsible for R&D activities aiming at developing new innovative processes to decarbonize (re)heating operations in energy intensive industries, in particular the steel industry as well as assessing the impact the new low carbon steelmaking routes on surface quality and main physical properties
- Among other tasks, you will design and follow-up your test program and you will be responsible of a pilot simulator
- You will interact with technicians as well as internal and external experts and industrials and report results to internal and external customers
- You will contribute to the active development and diversification at regional, European and international level by generating new ideas, writing project proposals
Who are you?
- You have a master’s degree in materials science/chemistry engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline.
- Some knowledge or initial experience in industry or project management is an advantage.
- Creativity and problem solving are your strong points
- You have a good sense of organization and are able to set the right priorities, want to get things done and like to take the initiative.
- You communicate efficiently, effectively and convincingly
- You are keen to learn and develop new skills
- You have a good knowledge of Dutch & English
