CRM Group Secures Funding for Four New RFCS Projects

Technology Europe

At CRM Group, we are pleased to announce the approval of four new projects under the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS), reinforcing our expertise in industrial research and innovation. These projects—I-Rolls, DigitalRollTOP, RAVES, and Reselscale—are part of a broader strategy to advance digitalization, sustainability, and efficiency in the steel industry.

A Strong Presence in RFCS Research

The RFCS program, managed by the European Commission, funds cutting-edge research projects aimed at supporting the competitiveness and sustainability of the coal and steel sectors. This year, CRM Group submitted seven project proposals:

🔹 Four projects were accepted, including three as part of our collective research program with ArcelorMittal and Tata Steel (with two coordinated by CRM Group) and one private project with Tata Steel (Reselscale).

🔹 The remaining three projects, while not selected for funding, all achieved scores above the quality threshold, demonstrating the high relevance of our proposals.

With a success rate of 4 out of 7 projects accepted, CRM Group once again confirms its strong track record in securing RFCS funding and delivering high-quality, innovative research proposals.

The Four Approved Projects

📌 I-Rolls – Focused on improving rolling mill processes through enhanced data analytics and predictive maintenance.
📌 DigitalRollTOP – Aiming to further digitalize the rolling process for greater precision and efficiency.
📌 RAVES – Dedicated to reducing environmental impact in steel manufacturing processes.
📌 Reselscale – A private research collaboration with Tata Steel, targeting sustainable scaling strategies in the industry.

These projects align with CRM Group’s commitment to driving innovation, digital transformation, and environmental responsibility in the European steel sector.

Recognition for Excellence in Proposal Writing

The approval of these projects and the high evaluation scores of our other proposals highlight CRM Group’s expertise in preparing RFCS applications. Our teams continuously strive to develop ambitious, high-impact research projects, ensuring that CRM Group remains at the forefront of industrial R&D.

We extend our thanks to all partners and contributors involved in these projects and look forward to the next steps in their implementation.
