XCarb® RRP: Recognizing Excellence in Sustainable Steel Innovation
We are proud to announce that the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced (RRP) project by ArcelorMittal has been awarded the Performance Excellence Award 2024 in the category of “Business Process Optimization.” This prestigious recognition highlights the dedication and expertise of all partners involved in the development and industrialization of innovative, low-carbon steel solutions.
Since 2022, CRM Group has been actively contributing to the XCarb® RRP project, playing a crucial role in the deployment and optimization of industrial processes associated with these sustainable steel products. The XCarb® RRP initiative focuses on recycling high levels of scrap and producing steel using 100% renewable electricity, sourced through a recognized Guarantee of Origin (GoO) scheme. This approach significantly reduces the carbon footprint of steel production, offering an environmentally responsible solution for industries looking to decarbonize their supply chains.

As part of this initiative, CRM Group has collaborated closely with ArcelorMittal to develop advanced production methodologies and enhance the industrialization of XCarb® RRP products. Our expertise has been instrumental in refining key aspects of steel processing, ensuring the efficient integration of sustainable materials while maintaining high performance and quality standards.
With four accepted RFCS projects in 2024—three of which are part of the collective program with ArcelorMittal & Tata Steel—CRM Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and excellence in sustainable materials research. This recognition further cements our position as a key player in the development of next-generation steel solutions, reinforcing our role in the European drive toward a greener, more sustainable industry.
