The CRM Group aims to increase its contribution to the industrial and societal challenges of greenhouse gas mitigation and resource efficiency, with a focus on energy transition and in particular on topics such as waste recovery, biomass, CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation or storage), hydrogen and energy storage. These subjects are at the heart of the R&D projects carried out by the Energy & Low Impact Industry unit and are linked internally to several other units and activities through its « Energy Shift » technology platform.
In this context CRM Group is recruiting a Research Engineer for its New installations in Engis (Liège – Belgium).
What will your responsibilities be?
You will be in charge of projects in the Circular Steelmaking area, with a focus on the development of solutions to support EU steelmakers in reaching Carbon neutrality by 2050 and improved circular economy for critical materials.
You will also contribute to the extension of the current R&D portfolio towards a.o. stainless steel, ferro-alloys and non-ferrous metals.
Among other tasks, you will conduct or be involved in :
- Projects and will act as a project leader, management, realisation and renewal of R&D projects.
- Daily maintenance, improvement and further development of the recently developed so called ‘Plasma Furnace’ (125 l volume – DC) and related facilities.
- including instrumentation/automation and extension of current range of applications covered by the installation;
- Pilot scale experiments at the ‘Plasma Furnace’ and pre-processing area
- Planification and preparation of the trials (materials and pilot);
- Trials realisation with the support of the dedicated technicians;
- Exploitation and interpretation of trials results.
- Depending on project’s needs, support to steelmaking activities at CRM Sart-Tilman site.
Who are you?
- Master degree in industrial or Civil Engineer. Related to Metallurgy discipline (Chemical Processing, Electromechanics, …);
- Knowledge in instrumentation/automation is an added value;
- Creativity and pro-activity, which makes you a real problem solver;
- Willingness to act also operationally on the field
- Team player, who possesses the necessary listening and communication skills;
- Good knowledge of French (daily interactions with technicians) and English (interactions with customers).
