Raw materials or products from thermal or fluidised bed processes can ultimately be melted to produce liquid metal and/or slag, using different technologies and melting conditions. For closed furnaces, the gas (and dust) produced can be captured and caracterised to fully assess the energetic and envitronmental performances of the process. The liquid products are cast (metal) and vitrified or granulated (slag).
